I love visiting my sister in L.A. because she loves to try vegan/vegetarian food with me. Fun fact about me: I was vegetarian for 3 years, but now I’m just the world’s worst vegetarian. I try my best but I have had a hard time getting back on it after I started eating meat again. That’s why Los Angeles is so amazing, because there are so many options for people trying to live an ethical lifestyle. Today my sister and I decided to check out the neighborhood of Silverlake. Check out my video to see some of our favorites, which are also listed below.
WHAT TO DO (AND WHAT TO EAT)
IN SILVERLAKE, LOS ANGELES //
- Check out Alfred Coffee. This place is a haven for instagram fanatics. The interior and exterior walls are so aesthetically pleasing, they make the perfect back drop for your iced coffee photos. Not only that, their drinks are pretty delicious too. I tried Matcha for the first time here, and they recommended I add honey since it was my first time trying it. The recommendation was greatly appreciated.
- Hike the Micheltorena Stairs. Across the street from Alfred Coffee is the Micheltorena Staircase. Another instragram favorite, these stairs make for a great photo op. We even got to watch a music video being filmed there. Hike to the very top of the stairs for an awesome eagle eye view of the city.
- Eat at ByChloe. Okay, this place came highly recommended and we pass along the same high recommendation. I love places that offer vegan junk food and ByChloe offers just that. Their menu is beyond huge and everything was so delicious. Our favorite was the pesto pasta but the burger was a close second.
AND ONE MORE THING //
- Donut Friend. Donut Friend is not actually in Silverlake, but it is featured in my video so I have to give it a shout out. Donut Friend is completely vegan, but it is also unique because you get to design your own doughnut sandwiches. DIY is all the rage right now and I am all about it. Check out the video for the outrageous creations we conceived. And yes, we did eat 95% of that box…
